06.12.2008 Photography course in 2009

Phil will be holding a class for 3 nights on Basic Photography Techniques starting on 21st of January until 18th February, details here.  After that Intermediate Photography Techniques will run for 5 weeks starting on the 4th of March until the 29th of April, details here.  Registration for both of theses will start at 7.15pm. Lesson will commence at 7.30pm until 8.15pm.  After the classes the Club meeting will start at 8.30pm. For further details on this contact Phil Pound at philpound@eircom.net.

26.11.2008 Round 5 League results

Full results of the Shoes round are here:
In Grade 1 Charlie took the colour honours while Melanie won 1st place in Mono.
In Grade 2 Chantal took 1st place in colour, while Ann won the Mono.
Charlie has taken the lead in Grade 1 with Geoff close behind while Kathleen leads Grade 2 with Chantal close behind. The league table is here.

22.11.2008 4 Club Members gain a distinction

5 Club members had a portfolio of images for their Licentiate of the Irish Photographic Federation (LIPF) judged today . In an excellent result for the club and the members: 4 members were successful.
Melanie, Charlie, Dave and Joe gained their LIPF. Unfortunately Kathleen was not successful on this attempt.

11.10.2008 Round 4 League results

In Grade 1 Thomas took the colour honours while Mel won 1st place in Mono.
In Grade 2 Kathleen took 1st place in colour, while Denis won the Mono.
Geoff and Charlie are close for 1st place in Grade 1 while Joy, Anne and Kathleen are closely place for the lead in Grade 2. The league table is here.

17.09.2008 Phil Pound's Photoshop Course

Phil will be holding a class for 5 nights on Introduction to Photoshop. He'll discuss the basics adjustments on photographs. The course will start on Wednesday 17th September with registration at 7.15pm. Lesson will commence at 7.30pm until 8.15pm. These lessons will continue until 12th November from 7.30pm to 8.15pm and Club meeting will start at 8.30pm.

16.07.2008 Round 3 League results

The much anticipated results are in - full results are here:
In Grade 1 Tadg took the colour honours while Phil won 1st place in Mono.
In Grade 2
Joy took 1st place in colour, while Geoff won the Mono.
Geoff 1st place means that he has now has now won his second 1st place meaning he automatically gets promoted to Grade 1, vaulting straight to the top of the Grade 1 table. The full league table is available here.
Competition for the lead in Grade 2 is fierce with only a few points separating Joy, Anne and Kathleen: Joy's excellent result this month means she can bask in her position at the top of Grade 2 until the end of the summer (just as well as she won't be basking in the sun with the weather we're having).

24.06.2008 Photo Exhibition

For the first time in many years the Clonakilty Camera Club will be holding an exhibition of members' work in the Round Tower at the Celtic Ross Hotel, Roscarberry. The exhibition will be on from Friday July 4th to Sunday July 20th, and will be opened by renowned local photographer, Michael Brown , on Friday July 4th at 8 pm, with a cheese and wine reception to which members of the public are invited. The photos in the exhibition both reflect the life and landscape of West Cork, but also there are scenes and portraits from further afield. The photographs will be for sale. The exhibition will be shown in other venues subsequently, which will be announced. The exhibition is being dedicated to the memory of club member Liz Doyle, who tragically died of cancer earlier this year. Donations will be collected for ARC Cancer Support House and the Irish Cancer Society. 28.04.2008 Round 2 League results

An excellent selection of images were entered for our second round, making the judging of the images all the more difficult.
In Grade 1 Tadg took the colour honours while Phil won 1st place in Mono.
In Grade 2 Geoff took 1st place in colour, while Nick's bridge shop won the Mono.

The members voted Geoff's 1st colour image as 'image of the night' earning Geoff an extra 5 league points and 1st place in the Grade 2 league table.

27.04.2008 IPF Club Final results

Clonakilty came a very respectable 13th place out of 19 clubs in today's IPF Finals. Dundalk came 1st, Drogheda came 2nd and Celbridge taking third. Overall results are available here.
We'll show the panels at a future club night where we can share the judges feedback and the marks received by the individual images.

26.04.2008 Tadg Spillane awarded LIPF

Congratulations to Tadg Spillane who was awarded his Licentiate of the Irish Photographic Federation today. Tadg put forward a panel of 10 images which were judged by a panel of judges in Thurles. Surfacing from under her jumbo box of tissues Melanie Black is coming to terms with her unsuccessful distinction attempt, Melanie will put forward another panel for her LIPF in November. Tadg & Melanie have kindly offered to show their panels at a future club night.

15.04.2008 Ger O'Sullivan in the Echo

One of our club members, Ger O'Sullivan has had one of his photo's published in the echo - well done Ger! Don't forgot to keep sending your images to Brian Lougheed. Ger's Picture is below.

16.01.2008 Mark Coombes wins POTY 2007

The club members voted Mark Coombes picture of a stag as best picture in Grade 1, earning Mark the coveted Photographer of the Year. Charlie Lee won Grade 2, earning himself a promotion to Grade 1 for the up and coming 2008 league. The results of the night are available here.

16.01.2008 First night of the 2008 Programme

The first night of the 2008 programme saw large turnout of both existing and new club members. The primary business of the night was the POTY 2007 competition with club members voting for their favourite prints. The themes for the 2008 league were chosen by the members  - watch the site for more on the league.
Mark Coombes was awarded Club Person of the year for his outstanding contributions to the club in 2007. Joy Pollard and Phil Pound also received awards for their hard work during 2007.

28.11.2007 2007 AGM & Auction night

There was an excellent turnout for the AGM and auction night.
The AGM proceeded smoothly: 2007 was a lucrative year for the club and the coffers have plenty of funds for project work for 2008. Tadg Spillane agreed to chair the committee for 2008 - for more details of the new officers see the Contact Us page.
A wide range of photography related items were on offer for the auction night with some amazing bargains secured. A number of items remain unsold - watch the website for a for-sale section over the coming weeks.
